Glasgow is actually fairly notorious for religious (that is sectarian) violence. My Dad grew up in Paisley and he has some pretty hair-raising stories about Glasgow. One of his friends who also emigrated to Canada has a scar on his face from a Rangers fan who randomly slashed him with a razor blade when he was walking down the street. He was lucky to get away.
