I found it okay. It is nice to have some more details filled in, and it was great to see Vlad happy, and maybe it's unfair after Issola and Dzur advanced things so much, but I guess I was hoping for yet more big revelations.
It's fun, but is also entirely backstory (about quite important to Vlad and previously unrevealed events that occurred around the time he married Cawti) - I was hoping for something that actually moved events forward, but not in this book. OTOH, Lyorn comes out next April and sounds like it's both set in his present and looks interesting.
