I'm an orphan!

Silver lining: I can now do whatever I want on holidays.

I expect the main bit of not having the old house and parents to go *to* on holidays will hit me sometime later. Anyway, yeah, my mother died this afternoon. I think I'm okay... actually, main feeling right now is relief that it's over; the past week has been pretty hellish, with her not talking or drinking and wasting away. Relief, and "OMG I can leave the house again. For hours at a time. And make noise."

Soon, to actually confront cleaning things up, and not spend days reading or on the Internet or watching the Netflix pile. But more immediately, "away, to Ethiopian food!" Though it's getting lateish with travel time and all.

[Edit: and both legs hurt when I walk. I'll hope this is from too much running on my out of shape legs, and not bone cancer making its move. Given my genes, full cyborgization looks like a nice move.]

I'm very sorry to hear this. My condolences. :(

I'm sorry to hear it. Given what you described, though, I'm glad it wasn't as long a process as you feared it would be.

My condolences. It's good that you had time to get used to things and to say good bye, and I hope that makes it easier.

So sorry to hear about all this -- I can't imagine what this has been like for you. Let's talk soon.

I'm so sorry. On the other hand, I think its perfectly understandable to feel freed. Go out and take in the air again.

I'm sorry.

It is natural for your legs to hurt, especially if you've been running on hard ground. Something about the bone-muscle zone. You can avoid it by running on softer ground and not say on streets and sidewalks.

My sympathies. I hope dealing with all the arrangements goes smoothly, so that that doesn't create an additional stress-load.

(I'm a Bujold list person, if you're wondering how the heck I wandered in here...)

Reading through all these comments, it seems like you have some awsome friends. I'm really sorry to hear that she finally passed - I know you'll miss her & your father terribly. I'm sure my words don't mean much right now, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to convey. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Do you have someone to help sort through things? (That was the worst part for me when my grandparents died.)

My prayers are with you...

P.S. Oh, and don't worry - my legs always hurt after running on concrete/pavement. I try to avoid it whenever possible. Grass is way better, Mr. City-boy. ;)

Relieved that she is out of pain & that you no longer have that variery of stress, but it is still a wrench.
