Radfem analysis of Firefly, part 2

Our Mrs. Reynolds.

Because projecting the racial issues of today's United States (Australian author, BTW) onto off-planet people 500 years in the future makes so much sense... I wonder more about the "deep cover to make feminists look bad" possibility, frankly.

My favourite part is where she implies that Joss has never written a woman getting away with killing a man who was trying to kill her.

I am now wondering about whole sections of Firefly, Serenity and Buffy I must surely have imagined (and I didn't even watch Buffy that often.)

Seriously, I find it sad enough that people use their finite lives to adore an IMO rather unimpressive half-season-cancelled show like Firefly, but that people who hate Firefly use their finite lives to do the same is even sadder.

I mean, it is gone! Who cares? Can't radical feminists at least criticize shows which are successful?

I think you're one of the only people I've ever heard say they didn't like Firefly. (Deep cover anti-feminist link excepted.)

Me, I think it's top-notch work. I like the characters and the actors had such great chemistry.

Yeah, I think it is talky, full of stereotypes and if Whedon - overrated too, if you ask me, I don't endure Buffy - wanted to do some sort of wild west thing I think he could have made one such instead of bringing another ultrasoft skiffy to short life. In fact, I don't think I like Whedon's characters at all, I get sitcom vibes spiced up with some angstyness.

I can't for my life understand why people think "Serenity" is a great movie either. All I wanted after half an hour was that the infernal yapping would stop.
