Impromptu soup
2008-09-02 20:01Yesterday I made coconut rice. A bit over a cup of dry sushi rice, a can of coconut milk. Good, though very sticky, and the coconut probably doubles the calories.
I had some left over, and the last of some grass-fed beef, so I put the beef in with the rice. Plus two cups of water, some miso paste, some beef broth paste (autopilot response to the miso, kind of silly given the actual beef), a thick slice of onion, sliced, some arame seaweed, cumin, turmeric, garlic powder, and fennel. Bring to boil, eat.
Result: good, though in the second half I find that much of the pastes never actually dissolved, hah. The fennel seed was a nice touch. The threads of arame don't make much obvious difference, though one thick piece had some good texture.
Still sick.
