Cambride sometimes feels like Bloomington. Similar population size, very college towny, very hip in places, low story buildings along a main stretch, such that going to downtown Boston is "whoah! city!"
OTOH, well, I never got out enough, but I don't think Bton has anything quite like Davis Square (technically in Somerville) or Harvard Square. People, musicians, homeless people, last-minute notice contra dance outside. Which latter is what I did tonight in Davis Square, with a good turnout, and a lot of other people just sitting on the benches. Then I hopped over to Harvard, which had at least five street musicians going at once.
And Somerville's like a second Bloomington right next door, at least in population; demographics are different. And Boston's over the river, and there's various other places...
