https://bookviewcafe.com/new-worlds-immortality/ notes that in Tolkien it's always a female elf who gives up immortality for her husband, never the reverse (though sometimes there's no change or the mortal man becomes immortal, hello Tuor.) As I say in a comment, that actually seems a common pattern. The only kind-of exception I can think of is Superman II, where Supes gives up his powers to "be with" Lois; not sure if he was giving up immortality too, and anyway he takes his powers back later.
