I wish I could laugh at that! The author apparently took herself seriously, and it's kind of unsettling that anyone would seriously think this way.

It's a little like laughing at the idea of someone like Mike Huckabee as a presidential candidate, until you realize he was actually getting some 10-20% of the Republican vote.

hello. yeah that was me :)

a fellow browncoat put up a challenge to see who could write a post that was sarcastic but subtle enough to get past the screen (the woman who posted doesn't allow oppositional thought to be put up on her site - while writing very inflammatory entries - very nice). My bit of subtle irony (okay there were a couple case) is that I used an icon of Seung Mina who is a strong, yet scantily clad fighter from a vid game (there was a bit of ranting about strong women being dressed as sex objects).

so, yes, it WAS tongue-in-cheek.

Hah, you did find this place to reply to me... glad to hear it, especially given our common interests.

Yeah, my sequences was something like
* wow, she's raving and dumb and radfemness wraps around to warped Christianity. I must tell everyone I know.
* Nah, James's thread is getting too long, I'll just tell my friends.
* You know, now that I've brought up the concept of Sokalling... is that a radfem icon? And was 'lude' over the top? Let's see if the journal and profile match the content.
* Journal, eh. Profile... dancing in underwear? Skinny dipping? Flirting? UU? -- okay, that could go either way, but I'm used to sex-pos ones. Sex? Firefly? And look, firefly userpics. And cog sci (personal bias), and Venn diagrams?
** Could a pro-logic, pro-sex, Hofstadter and Firefly fan be swept up to write that screed naturally? I believe people are complex, and anything is possible... but it's not how I'd bet. Let's ask! Obliquely, because allecto allegedly checks the journals of commenters for respectful attitudes.

And once I had the idea, things like "except to marry Wash, but that's not important" seemed suspicious.

I am surprised that she didn't seem to do a background check on me because my profile is a bit of a give-a-way. I would also have been suspicious of the post in the first place because her entry is months old and the only folks posting to it right now are Firefly fans.

I got replies telling me how stupid I was, but allecto never unscreened them so they exist only in my email.

I will friend you and then you can friend me and you will see the rest of my journal :) If you look back just a couple of entries you will see one that is (tangentally) about Bloomington :) You can join my club of nuttiness because you seem like good people - and more people from Bloomington on my flist is gooood :)

oh I forgot to add - thank you for being one of all of like 4 people to have noted my subtle use of the 'chill pill' in the post. That one apparently went over a lot of people's heads.
