Inside John McCain’s campaign the expectation is growing that there will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of her baby. “It would be fantastic,” said a McCain insider. “You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.”

Because nothing says "keep the personal out of politics" like hoping the shotgun wedding of your VP candidate's teenage daughter will boost your presidential campaign.

These people don't have the *class* to be in the White House. And no, I don't mean the wedding itself.

Did I mention the refusal of Palin aides, including her AG, to obey subpoenas? Yay respect for the law.

There's no evidence that either of the two are being forced into the marriage. Thus the term "shotgun wedding" is inaccurate.

But a McCain insider predicted he would marry Bristol whenever his future mother-in-law wanted. “It’s a shotgun wedding. She kills things,” the source joked.

If it's good enough for them to joke about... anyway, the usage of "shotgun wedding" I'm used to is a marriage rushed into because of pre-marital pregnancy, to avoid embarrassment or social pressure. Literal force need not apply, o literal one. Not to mention my main point about the revealed hypocrisy and shallowness of the McCain campaign.
