In rec.arts.sf.written thread "The non-western fantasy canon", the following exchange occurred:

>>JOURNEY TO THE WEST, which, it seems, has transitively inspired our Sea Wasp.

I'm the Sea Wasp. Oh, you mean Journey to the West? One of the great classic stories of Chinese (and Japanese) myth, centering around the adventures of a monk accompanied by the great Monkey King Wu Kung, known in Japan as Son Goku; the story was retold in a twisted fashion as "Dragonball", which is one of my inspirations. ("Dragonball Z" continued the story of Goku, but with Western inspirations including Superman and Terminator).

So Monkey leads to Dragonball Z. Wow.

Also today, certain people on my chat system again aired their peeve about Americans using Anglicisms such as "Cheers!" and perhaps "bloody". This inspired me to say I was tempted to not only cultivate the Anglicisms but to mix in anime-Japanese as well.

"Arigatou, onee-chan. Cheers!" Personally I like the "You will be assimilated, resistance is amusing" aspect of Roman/Japanese/Western cultures.
