Ancient Sunken City

allegedly found off the west coast of India, 36 meters underwater, 9000 years old, and big-scale, like Harappa, not like 9000 year old Jericho or Catal Huyuk. Be cool if it's true ("ha ha, China and India really are the source of all inventions") ("there's lots of stuff on the continental shelves which got Flooded when the Ice Age ended"); on the other hand there'd be a 5000 year gap in Indian large-building civilization, and there have been prior kookier claims of Atlantis-like ruins off of India.

The article is from 2002, which I failed to notice, as did the Techer I got it from, or the Bruce Sterling he got it from. The "prior kookier claims" I dimly recalled were probably in fact this exact claim. See Wikipedia and various comments at James Nicoll's LJ.
