Globally, more people are urban than rural. (As declared by population estimates.)

The article says not to attribute importance to this, or to urban populations, but as Colin McEvedy said (hi, Fanw! I was re-reading) people have always preferred urban to rural poverty. (Which is why resettlement schemes fail.) So, it matters to them.

Pity Jane Jacobs didn't live to see it.
