I'm in my new apartment, have been for a few days. Haven't unpacked all that much yet. Noise problems aren't as bad as I feared, though I haven't slept over on a weekend yet. Previous host had kept asking me to clean up my room to show potential tenants, said when I left that he didn't think I'd be able to clean up my room as much as I had. Wasn't hard, though, stuff folds back into my bags (or this time, got schlepped over in multiple trips), garbage gets thrown out, excess plastic bags get stored or thrown out, voila. I left the dust and grit for him to vacuum, that seemed okay.

anima-mechanique and Z had this neat light-weight folding bookshelf from Pier One. There's a nearby Pier One and I found them there. Something like $180 IIRC, though. Sadface.

I got tension rods, and hung up two of my curtains in my bedroom. I'm surprised, they haven't fallen down yet. Nice and dark. I also got some cheap Redi Shade blinds for the other 6 windows in the apartment, haven't tried them yet.

Got my Harvard Pilgrim insurance brochure, but no card. Well done, people.

Hmm, haven't really *done* much in the past week, mostly reading and some exercise. Lots of Penny and Aggie fandom, which spawned its own IRC channel, and yesterday I was geeking out about comics with a 20 year old who knew the Dreaming ("You liked Echo?" "Yes, kind of") and Lucifer -- in fact, had been on the forums and seen Lucifer Smiley Face Masterpiece Theatre -- and Hellblazer.

Oh! I finished watching Rocket Girls. Silly in many ways, but fun.
Finished off some classical history Wikipedia tabs. Thebes was more important than I'd thought; more like a big Three with Sparta and Athens, not a big Two. Macedonians never conquered Sparta, that took the Romans. It's estimated Spartan women owned 35% of the land.

You might be happy and optimistic. We can fix that.

Tritium is produced in nuclear reactors by neutron activation of
lithium-6. This is possible with neutrons of any energy, and is an
exothermic reaction yielding 4.8 MeV. In comparison, the fusion of
deuterium with tritium releases about 17.6 MeV of energy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium#Occurrence says 230 billion tonnes
in seawater. Assuming fissing 10 kg a second, that's 1e13 seconds of
global power. 100,000+ years.
20 mg per kg of crust, 1e14 m2* 1e3 m = 3e17 ton = 3e20 kg = 60e20 mg Li
= 6e21 mg = 6e18 g = 6e15 kg. Vs. 2.3e14 in seawater.
20 million tons in reserves, 2e10 kg, 2e9 seconds.

How come I don't hear about this more as a power source?
