Not an author to read for the happy endings. Or maybe it's just the Cat series.

Also, humans suuuuuuck.

The weirdest thing for me about Dreamfall is that Cat is on the Hydran homeworld, meeting Hydrans, and not once explicitly thinks back to the ones in Psion. Oh, very late, there's passing mention of the Cinder ones, and wondering if things have improved, but there's no compare-and-contrast despite my thinking the deep differences would be massively salient.

Friday filk and such. I'd recommend "The Girl Who's Never Been" here, an Alice in Wonderland song; I tried singing it. Also did "I am the Walrus", since I know the source melody very well having memorized the original 15 stanza ballad, though I nearly broke down laughing at the end. http://www.cyphertext.net/escapekey/songs.html

Saturday: mostly read Dreamfall and ate Mao's Pork or some such at Zoe's. Good, but very fatty pork, and I think I preferred the family style chicken ovver all.

Today woke up in time for UU and went, despite my 4-5 hours of sleep. It was okay. As elsewhere, they have yellow mugs for newcomers, but didn't seem very good about coming up to us yellow mug people.

Mary Chung for dim sum. Menu not carts, and odd selection compared to what I'm used to. Good sio mai and "little steamer buns" which were actually dumplings, and hang chow beef. "Chinese bread" was pure bun material and I don't like it that much.

Biked down Pearl St., and across the nearest bridge into Boston-Allston, BU campus, biking down Beacon Street, which needs taller trees. Made a Call, kept on going, until I hit a highway. Managed to keep on going with a couple of changes, until I hit the start of a Charles River Reservation park, and called G-in-Chile for his birthday. Decided to follow the park and river, rather than roads sort of following the river, not sure which of Newton, Watertown, or Waltham I was in. After two hours out finally crossed the river and headed back along the north side of the river, and I just realized that with the phone calls I wasn't actually moving for all of the two hours. Memorial Drive turned out to be blocked off for Sundays, like a section of Golden Gate Park, so I had fun riding around on the carless road.

Am reading Dragon Sword, Wind Child. Good book so far, thanks James!
