I guess I talk less when I'm not complaining. :p Also I'm here as a remote worker, not a tourist, so not much time for adventures... I did try a panaderia, but Google fucked up again, with directions to somehow penetrate the middle of a block, when the store was just on the other side of the street. But they didn't sell bread. I got a cheese empanada, but it was sprinkled with sugar. Eww.
I've had more Mexican food. Torta chorizo con huevo from the cubana place, good though not as good. Baguette con salchicas from somewhere okay. And I thought I'd ordered gorditas, but what I got were flautas/taquitos/tacos dorados, long rolled up and fried, okay.
Today was blah for sleep reasons but I finally got out at 7 pm. West, then south past the Aztec ruins, or Templo Mayor, into a cathedral square, had tacos al pastor, okay. Checked out the Tenochtitlan subway station, smelled of ammonia -- actually, lots of weird unpleasant smells on this walk -- but machines only for reloading a card not buying one. A teller, but I didn't feel like dealing right now. Back up, found a drum and dance circle going on the west side of the cathedral, stayed and watched for a while. Found a pedestrianized street, walked west along it; lots of chain stores: McD, KFC, BK, Uniqlo... found a Maison Kayzer "coffeeshop" that seems to sell real bread! Didn't get any, I still have some sliced loaves at home.
Finally found myself at the Palace Belles Artes, and Alamade Central, an old and large city park, well-lit and well-attended in the Latin American style.
Finally headed home, along Donceles, which was not quite dead. A bookstore was open across from a nightclub, at nearly 9 PM.
