Recently, due to online discussions of inflation, I've been using UberEats to research McDonald's prices in different regions, as I hadn't wanted to install their app. This should be good for comparison, but are the prices really accurate?

No. I went to my local store today and checked. Compared to the kiosk prices, UberEats's menu is +$1.00 for hamburger and Big Mac, +$1.50 for a quarter pounder with cheese, and +$1.80 for a double quarter.

Not that surprising, given what I now know about the 15-30% cut UE takes. And UE isn't even useful for me; you can only use it for delivery, not pickup (I guess McD wants you to use their app for that?)

Tangentially, for the regional research, I'd compared local prices to Chicago. Most of them are a fair bit apart: hamburger $2.49 Chicago vs. $3.69 (this is UberEats again... makes me wonder what the in-store Chicago price is), quarter pounder $6.49 vs. $7.29. But Big Mac $6.79 vs. $6.99. Makes me wonder if there's pressure to keep Big Mac prices close together, as a signature item.
