East vs. West

Pot legalization, or at least medical marijuana, is mostly in the West; gay marriage is mostly in the Northeast. Of the USA, of course. Though you do get civil unions in the West, plus Illinois, Wisconsin, and NJ.

Ironically, the pot-friendliest NE states are the two most hostile to gay marriage, Maine and Rhode Island.
