Following up from the previous entry: yeah, I think the logo not just has a crow's nest but is meant to evoke sails, though the pencil and circle throws me off. But quite blatant is our Profile pages:

Cute, I like it. Nothing on Google. It's a sad day when LJ is cooler than Google.
Separately, I've found that the LJ style I'm using looks a lot nicer in Internet Explorer, with lots of ornate cursives, than on Firefox. I picked it because of how it looked on IE. Sniff.

Date: 2006-09-22 01:45 (UTC)From:Cz: You have 15 days. We will kill 1,000 people each day you are late. As the protectors of this world, we must kill you and your sister no matter what. We have come to the conclusion that destroying a country is a reasonable way to accomplish that.
Shannon: (no change of expression) I see.
Nonchalant, and that's how he was for the rest of the episode too. Pacifica looked initially disturbed and then pensive, while Raquel didn't outwardly react either way. I think the plan was actually to defeat the peacemakers before too many people die, but after the disaster with the ship, they kind of forget about that and just want to find Pacifica. Raquel even locates her, but lets her stay where she is because she seems happy there. Who knows how many days pass while this happens.
I would feel guilty fangirling over Ouran since the characters are so transparently different "types" like the silent stoic one, the vain playboy, etc. The self-acknowledged ridiculousness adds a lot of humor :D
I guess I'm counting the "minor characters with a crisis who only appear for one episode" thing in CCS as filler. I can't remember the anime that well, but I think this is what I didn't like about it. Or maybe I'm just thinking of magical girl shows in general.
At length!
Date: 2006-09-22 03:33 (UTC)From:There's a lot I liked. Besides my weaknesses for fantasy/SF linecrossers, and for AIs, and the humor ("how can your spells be so short?", earth spirit flexing its muscles, Pacifica's poison which destroyed their stomachs), the Peacemaker behavior was nicely sensible. At first I was surprised they were so cautious with Zefiris, but then I remembered there were 4 -- oops, 3 -- of them, and not making any new ones, and it made sense to avoid combat without a big edge. Even if they could take her, they'd lose out; better to try to bribe Shannon out, as they did even very late.
OTOH, I really thought someone should have at least asked "so, how will those aliens react when we bring down the system?" Though the show did a good job of keeping the characters plausibly too confused to be so insightful. And I just blot out the scene which looked like a section of planet reinserting itself. Lalala, didn't happen, the aliens just roofed over a continent, that's all...
Remember I'm seeing CCS in Anime Club. :) 2 episodes a week, so we've seen six episodes so far. Well, they have; I came late last week, figuring CCS wasn't something which would suffer from a few missed eps in the interest of rest. Not like 12 Kingdoms, which grabs my Fantasy Epic bone. I hope it's good. I think Tilly said it was, similar to but better than something else -- Shugi Yogi?
With Haruhi, I got to find out that the anime plays down her sociopathic solipsistic bitch aspect after the beginning. She's still annoying but... one of the later novels presents it rather more brutally. But yeah, the show is so charming and weird and pretty that you forgive a lot. And episode 12 (aka episode 12 [sic]) really *is* delightful. I'm keeping the series on my hard drive, along with Scrapped Princess and Maria-sama, if that tells you anything.
Josh (head of club) claims Haruhi is the new Azumanga Daioh for the purpose of making AMVs, though AFAIK there's a lot more Azumanga material to use so I'm skeptical that Haruhi could take its place. Still, it has been showing up in the break AMVs -- we watched one Haruhi-including AMV which was about AMVs, and didn't have Azumanga at all.
Woo! Now to finish Now and Then, and pratice my katakana to boot.
