I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up "early" and voted. Yay, no lines! Boo, no receipts. In light of the fact that whoever comes first on a ballot does a bit better, I'd like to note that I think the Republicans were listed first.

Discovery: now that we need IDs to vote, expired IDs are okay if they were good in the last general election, or something -- mine expired in 05 but was good in 04, so good for now.

I didn't do all my duty; I had no idea what to do for judges and the school board. And school boards matter.

Afterwards I went to Sahara Mart, and discovered a sign for the Libertarian Party. Well, that's subject to interpretation. What it actually said was

DUE TO STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS WE ARE PROHIBITED FROM SELLING ALCOHOL ON ELECTION DAY

WTF? I think we need a Brain Mangler meme. "Logic goes WHERE?"

P.S. In Unix one hits Ctrl-W to erase a word. In Windows, this erases a window. For once, LJ's saved draft feature was useful and had most of my text.

I'm here because of the Nicoll post of your D R post voting poll results that he posted; I skim rasfw from time to time, but find it hard to filter out the nonsense; LJ has been more effective. I've added you to my FL; no obligation to respond; I post rarely.

re: WTF alcohol used to be much more popular than PACs and negative ads as a campaign tactic. It was an issue a lot of voters could appreciate. I believe that was the original sources of the restrictive laws.

re: ctrl W - it is nice to have standard interfaces, but then one gets sued for copying look-and-feel. ;<}
