Miso Soup Attempt 1, A Few Days Ago: I just boiled some miso paste. It didn't taste that good. I added some oil, since there's oil in the recipe on the tub of paste. Maybe some salt. Didn't taste a whole lot better.
Miso Soup Attempt 2, Today: Following somewhat closer to the recipe, I added some vegetable broth paste and some sliver of onion to the miso and water. No oil or extra salt. Oh, and I put in the tofu during the simmering process, rather than afterwards, as last time. Tasted much better, if not as good as at Japonais. I suspect it's the broth, maybe the onion.
I've been trying a CRON diet for a full five days now, which is pathetic but a record. Interestingly, my Killer Hay Fever Allergies of Doom finally kicked in Sunday, itchy eyeballs and all, after sending threatening sniffles for a while. I started Monday, with 1500 calories. Since Tuesday my eyeballs have been itching less often, and maybe less when they do, though I still have runs on the kleenex supply. Coincidence? Maybe.
