I was amused by a headline along the lines, now women finally have their own mediocre marvel superhero movie. For me, it is an exaggeration to say it is only mediocre. I liked it more than that.
I liked Larson's performance, with her sense of humor just dialed back enough to not be an asshole (hmm, that might partly be an unfair gendered reaction to feel it was so close to the edge). I saw some reviewers complain that get amnesia made it hard to know and root for her, but that wasn't a big problem for me.
I liked Goose.
Tangent: I heard Larson did this out of order with Endgame, and wonder if (besides the makeup), there will be oddness with the way her character behaves. But apparently many of the actors shot their scenes with minimal or no context, so perhaps it won't be noticeable.
My favorite snark was that it was the best remake of the Long Kiss Goodnight. Which, unusually, I've actually seen, and featured another badass amnesiac woman and Samuel Jackson.
