In most RPGs, even epic level D&D probably, this would Fail.

In Exalted, which draws upon not only high power anime and wuxia but also epic classical myths such as Hercules holding up the sky, she would spontaneously Exalt as a Chosen of the Unconquered Sun, have a chance of succeeding, and get bonus dice for trying, at least with a cool description.

"I stand on a mountain, wind blowing through my hair and dress, ready with my baseball bat to save Creation via the ultimate home run. Yes, I'm trying to parry the meteor. What do I roll?"
"Two extra dice for the environmental stunt."

(Clarification: I have no evidence that the cartoonist had Exalted in mind. It just fits.)

So far as we know, she doesn't _need_ to Exalt, spontaneously or not. She wants to parry the meteor, she does it.

*reads other comics* Oh, I see. I hadn't seen the comic before, just the image on an Exalted thread. I think it may have been cooler out of context, when it seemed like one girl doing what she could, vs. one girl who's practically God already.
