Yes, I've figured a logical use of LJ might be to let people comment easily on my stuff, while keeping my actual permanent stuff under my domainname and control.

URL? I have no memory of what Spin State and Wright were doing together. Or what I said about Wright as a writer -- I shouldn't say much of anything, since I haven't read his novels. Though I've heard about the alleged flaws of the Golden Age trilogy, and if one were to filter authors based on their politics he'd be very filtered.

I'd bet modern miners have more capital and better tools than the basically 19th century mining Moriarty had. Bulldozers and drilling machines and crushers vs. people with pick-axes. Even more to the point, this universe has AI, and mining should thus be quite susceptible to mining robots, even if the condensates need a delicate touch.

I've only seen the two GitS movies; I admit a connection escapes me, not that I remember the book well.
