AT&T DSL came today. Self-installation is pretty easy -- no screws like I'd anticipated, just things you plug into phone jacks. Wouldn't take Firefox installation, but IE worked. Now, OMG, it may be faster than my cablemodem at home. And $25/month at the top tier, with $15 tier available. Gee, my mother could have been enjoying this. But that's one of many regrets about my parents' lives; all I can do is live better. (Finish PhD. Get girlfriend. Wait, that one isn't up to me.)

Why'd I order it? Well, saves phone/computer competition. Feels nice, too. No term commitment, which surprised me. And I might want to upload digital photos of house things as I sell.

I think lyceum's pocket just called me by accident, or something.

Now to be boring! Running, again. Ran once around the block: 2:32, 2.27x walking. 6:09 to walk around the block including streets, which should be more exactly 3/8 of a mile, so 18:27 for 3x, or 16:24 for a mile. (Logic: Chicago is 800 to a mile, and blocks are twice as long as wide, so one long side should be 1/8 of a mile, and all around is 3/8. But that's why the streets matter, I assume I have to go to corresponding points, which my run avoids.) I also walked the putative half-mile between Lawrence and Montrose, getting times of 8:10 and 8:23 back. Slowing down in the heat? At 16:24, my running path (17:15 to walk) would be 1.05 miles, for an 8:41 mile. If I could keep the 2:32 pace up, that'd be 7:34/block or a 7:12 mile.
