City Bakery Bread

I really like rye bread. Most of what I'd had in the past year has been a brand reliably on sale at Kroger, $2/loaf. It'd decent. At some point I discovered City Bakery's New York Rye at Bloomingfood's. It's better. But it's also often not available. Like last night, and this morning, and this afternoon -- all part of today's Day Of Seething Rage, which was assuaged by my deciding to try walking over to the Bakery itself, at 511 W. 4th. They had loaves, even offering a choice of sliced or unsliced. Same price; I'm not sure if I should be happy they're getting more profit that way or annoyed they're not cutting a break.

It's good to live downtown.

I also had an almond croissant since I was there ($2); it was okay.

The day of rage reminds me of this Woody Allen stand-up thing: "It was one of those days -- I woke up and went to button my shirt but the button fell off. Then I went to open the door and the doorknob fell off. After that I was afraid to go to the bathroom."

Good to hear you're doing more with Metacat and are figuring out its issues. After getting your copycat advice I finally gave in and started reading Melanie's code, and I'm enjoying implementing my own baby slipnet...
